More information about my weather station:
The Apex, NC Weather and My
Weather Station links are "fed" via a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather
station. The anemometer is located on my roof and connected via wire
to the wireless sensor array in the yard beside the house. I
use to have the complete sensor array on the roof until the birds
discovered the rain collector was a great place to "unload." I
found myself constantly climbing up on the roof to clean it out when
it stopped registering. The wireless sensor array transmits to
the weather console in the office which connects to my computer via
a USB cable. I have the Davis s/w set up to upload fresh data from
the weather station to the web page every 10 minutes.
The weather station USB connector includes a "data
logger" to retain data if the weather station is not connected
to the computer (will hold about 4-6 weeks of data, logging every 15
minutes).
You may notice on occasion that the weather page update is behind
- hasn't been updated in over 10 minutes. I've found that in the
afternoons, during high web traffic time, that the response time
from my web page host is sometimes slow and doesn't respond
in a timely fashion to the FTP request from my PC to initiate
the data update.
The radar image on The Apex, NC Weather
Page is via National Weather Service Station KRAX. The dopper
radar image on the Wake
County Doppler Page is via WRAL-TV5 Raleigh, N.C.
