Notes for Hans Bischoff:

The record shows that Hans Bischoff, a herdsman at Nahweiler, Alsace first appears in the Langensoultzbach Lutheran church baptism records in 1722.  It lists the children of Hans and Elisabetha Schwartz.  It also shows that Hans Bischoff, age 52, of Jagerthal, was buried in Sultzbach on October 7, 1729.  This would place his birth around 1677.

        3.  Johannes Heinrich2 Bischoff (Hans1) was born Abt. 1713 in Alsace, Germany, and died 21 May 1790 in Germany Township, York, PA.  He married Anna Elizabetha Ellrodt 14 Jun 1736 in Lancaster County, PA by John Casper Stover, daughter of Johann Ellrodt and Mary Lerchenzeiler.  She was born 12 Mar 1718 in Wilmington, New Castle County, DE, and died Abt. 1785 in Germany Township, York, PA.

They were married by Reverend John Casper Stoever, a traveling minister from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Holland, PA.

Another source reports he was born at Sultzbach, Alsace, Germany and married in York Co, Pa.

 

From Annette Kunselman Burgert, "Eighteenth Century Emigrants from the Northern Alsace to America," 1992, p. 77 (from Michael L. Marshall, 6108 Ellerson Green Place, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, 1993). Of Jagerthal, was a herdsmann at Nahweiler, first appears in bp. records here in 1722.

 

    Arrived Philadelphia 17 Aug 1733 ship "Samuel" of London from Rotterdam via Deal, England. Name may be John Henrich; ships lists show Henrich ("30,000 Names of Immigrants in PA, 1727-1776," by I.D. Rupp, p. 85; also "German Pioneers," by Ralph Beaver Strassburger and William John Hinkle, pp. 106, 110, 112. record at Trinity Lutheran Church of New Holland, Lancaster Co., PA). Gave 89 acres to son, Detrick in exchange for life care (York Co., PA 2F:506).
