Per Dorthy Snyder Preston County Journal Article:

Civil War, Co. O of the 6th.

W = Wilson or Willison

Captured in the Confederate Raid on April 26, 1863, paroled the same day and returned to duty scouting and guarding the railways. One day - a musket cap discharged and struck him in the right eye, eventually he became completely blind. He also received a gunshot wound to the anterior surface of the left leg. After the war he worked in railroad shops and eventually lived in Elkins. After his wife died in 1909 he lived at the National Military Home in Montgomery Co, Ohio. Although completely blind, he worked as a ward orderly.

 

Married in 1870 and had at least four children.
